Did anyone notice the background picture in this morning's NYTimes article
about Senator Reid? Sam seems to be prominently on the Hill, in this one
office anyway. Link:

And for Sue Harris, from another often silent, but always interested
member--
While Tom Sawyer has a terrible tendency to tell Huck and Jim to shut up
because they don't "know enough to come in when it rains" or because they
are "backwoods country yahoos," the rest of us find Huck's and Jim's words
well worth listening to. . . .
And for Jim Zwick, who felt Kerry should have been more open about his debt
to Tom Sawyer's fence painting--Tom didn't actually get others to share the
burden. He got them to do the work and pay for the privilege. Effective,
yes, but could Kerry have pulled it off, and more importantly, should he?
Just once in my life, I'd like to actually vote FOR someone, not against
someone else....
I want to add my vote of appreciation for the list, the moderator, and the
community this list creates. I only wish I'd known about it earlier--but
the archives soothe even that regret.
