The topic for the Mark Twain Circle session at SAMLA in Fall 1999 is "Mark
Twain and Literary/Cultural Influences." Program Chair is Janet
Gabler-Hover, Georgia State University. Janet tells me that she has left
the session title deliberately ambiguous to include influences on Mark Twain
or cultural or literary legacies. She has two panelists lined up for the
session at this point, but is looking for another paper and a respondent.
Hence, she has extended the deadline for submissions to May 10. Abstracts
of papers or proposals to serve as respondent can be sent to:

        Prof. Janet Gabler-Hover
        Department of English
        Georgia State University
        University Plaza
        Atlanta, Georgia 30303,

or faxed to 404/651-1710,

or e-mailed to [log in to unmask]

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, GA, November 4-6.
