Hal,

Are you referring specifically to the Bettini "Micro-Phonograph" recording
of 1893?

Bettini made copies of a number of his cylinders for sale to the elite.  I
don't know if Twain's was among them.  But it's yet another tantalizing
possibility that a copy could have survived the original.
