As Miriam just said, thanks to Larry for finding out the facts about
relative pronouns.  I hope this message will close the topic, as it's
strayed rather far from Mark Twain.  For those who have more to
contribute to the discussion, I suggest that they post their queries
to lists more specially about language, or else investigate other
sources of historical language info at the library.
