        Proposals are invited for papers to be presented at the Second 
Annual CPC African American Studies Conference.  The theme of the event is 
"NOMMO (the generative power of sound/word) IN AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE AND 
POLITICS."  The conference is intended to promote discussion and dialogue 
on issues related to African American Studies and Afrocentric education and 
scholarship.  Proposals for entire sessions are welcome, as are proposals 
for alternative formats, from panel discussions and roundtables to readings 
and performances.  Proposals for papers, panels, readings, or performances 
related to any or all aspects of NOMMO IN AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURE AND 
POLITICS are invited, including but *not limited* to the following:
