Greetings,
A recent group has arisen, calling itself "Redefining Progress," and has
developed a critique of GDP as a standard measure of economic well-being.
Granted, this is less broad than societal well-being, but the point is
still
valid.
Their address is:
One Kearny Street
4th Floor
San Francisco, CA 94104
Phone # 415 781 1191
This is as of last September. Last November, I believe, there was an
article
on the topic, from the organization, in _Atlantic Monthly_. It was fairly
readable, and could even serve as useful background to almost any
macroeconomics course, whether for the general public or not. You should
be
able to get some interesting material from the article or from the group
itself.
BTW, it might be interesting to see the course outline when it is done.
Could it be posted someplace, or offered by email?
John Dodge
