In Hannibal a few weeks ago, John Bird talked about how the archives of American Literary Scholarship were one place people could turn to make a concise study in the history of Twain Scholarship. I would like to draw your attention to another resource well-suited to this purpose, the archives of lectures from the Trouble Begins series at Elmira College. Joe Lemak has been diligently working to digitize these archives and now has 181 lectures available for streaming and download, dating back to the launch of the series in 1985.
Would you like to take Henry Nash Smith with you on your morning walk? Would you like to listen to Micheal Kiskis while you wash the dishes? Would Hamlin Hill make good company for your morning commute? The voices of past colleague are preserved in this resource, as well as concise, digestible expressions of many research projects which became highly-regarded books and essays. It’s pretty awesome.
