In the spring of 1955 I visited the Mark Twain home and museum in
Hannibal, and saw there what I remember as a recording -- a disk,
not a cylinder -- that was described as a recording, made by Edison,
of Twain telling the Jumping Frog story.
I also was told that it was played over the local radio station
once a year. Unfortunately, when I looked into the matter briefly
a few years ago, I was unable to get confirmation of any of this,
and my impression is that there is no extant recording of Clemens'
voice.
