If you are in the Hamilton (Ontario) area, we would appreciate your
making students aware of the following opportunity.  We realize the
timeline is very tight.

     ATTENTION: 1st. or 2nd. YEAR UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

                      WANT A  PART-TIME JOB?

We are looking for 4 people (2 males and 2 females) to lead discussions
with youth about cigarette smoking.  Training will be provided and some
travel to Hamilton area elementary schools is required.

We are from the Centre for Behavioural Research and Program Evaluation,
National Cancer Institute of Canada (NCIC) .

WHY are we doing this?

     We are working with grade 8 students in several Hamilton elementary
        schools to understand the reasons why teenagers either smoke
        or don't smoke.

YOU are eligible if you:

    - are a 1st or 2nd year university student near Hamilton
    - have excellent leadership, organizational, and communications skills
    - are interested in and able to lead discussion groups and interviews
        with teens about smoking and other health-related concerns
    - have a flexible time schedule (involves travel to individual
        elementary schools during lunch time)

  Candidates will be notified on September 13, 1996.
  Training for successful candidates will be held September 16 - 18.

The position is part-time (approximately 4 hours per week, $13 per hour)
for a 20-week period starting September 16, 1996.
