SCMLA is the South Central MLA and many members are from Texas and Oklahoma. However, the call is for all interested. It does overlap SAMLA's---SCMLA is Nov. 3-5, 2016.

Hi!
So sorry to hear about your bone brake and about SCMLA
I personally have never heard of SCMLA
I attend RMMLA and SAMLA.
I would love to submit a paper for that conference, but SAMLA is at the sam=
e time and will be in FL in 2016.
Thanks for letting us know!
Jules

Subject: SCMLA 2016 and Special Session on Twain
Forum Members:
Recently I presented a paper on Mark Twain (along with my husband) at the S=
=3D CMLA Annual Conference in Nashville. It was the paper I was originally=
sup=3D posed to present at the conference in Hannibal in July; however, I =
broke my=3D pelvis and had to cancel.
As I looked over the program and read all the paper titles that were being =
=3D presented, I was shocked that our paper was the only one on Twain. Tha=
t wi=3D ll be different next year. I (and my husband Dr. Delwin Richey - w=
ho teach=3D es in our university's Communication Studies Dept.) are sponsor=
ing a Specia=3D l Session panel on Mark Twain: The Gilded Age Exposed. The=
theme for the 2=3D
016 SCMLA conference is "The Spectacular City: Glamour, Decadence and Celeb=
=3D rity in Literature and Culture," so because Mark Twain coined the term =
The =3D Gilded Age, we thought papers on any of his works about any of thes=
e aspect=3D s of the theme would fit right in.
The call for papers is not "official," but I wanted all of Twain Forum memb=
=3D ers to consider submitting an abstract. The official call for papers w=
ill =3D be after the first of the year and the conference is not until Nove=
mber 201=3D
6 in Dallas, Texas.
Thanks for considering this and I look forward to getting abstracts......on=
=3D ce the official call goes out.
