J. W. Bengough was a prominent single taxer who has yet another
indirect connection to Twain.  He drew cartoons for the
Chicago-based weekly, _The Public_, two of which appear on pages 43
and 180 of my anthology of Twain's anti-imperialist writings, _Mark
Twain's Weapons of Satire_.
