I live on a bluff above the Mighty Mississippi River in Louisiana Missouri,
a short half hour south of Hannibal.

Keep in mind the significant river flooding in the region. Hannibal has its
flood walls up. MO Highway 79 on which the cave is located may still be
closed and the Mark Twain riverboat hasn't been operating.

The lighthouse was torn down and the new one recently went up. I asked a
local shopkeeper why pieces of the old one weren't sold to generate money
to build the statue of the MT characters displayed in the interpretive
center. She mused, "Gee, that's a great idea." I can't believe that wasn't
thought of.

This weekend is the Brew Skies Music Festival. It may be crowded.
