The Forum for the History of the Human Sciences (FHHS) is an interest 
group of the History of Science Society (HSS) --more info to follow. 
Here are two items gleaned from the current FHHS newsletter. 
 
Papers on the program for the upcoming History of Science Society meetings 
(Atlanta, 7-10 Nov) include: 
 
    Ted Porter (UCLA), Instrumental Knowledge, or, Trusting No One: Life 
        Insurers Resort to Measurement 
 
    Mark Solovey (UWisconsin), NSF and the Effort to Create a National 
        Social Science Foundation 
 
Journal of the History of the Behavorial Sciences 32.4 (Fall '96) will be 
a special issue on Durkheimian Sociology, including papers on Durkheim's 
legacy regarding Statistics, Human Nature, Sociology of Knowledge, and 
other themes central to economic thought or to writing its history.  
 
FHHS has no web page.  The History of Science Society (HSS) has a web page 
limited to official society announcements, including a description of the 
society and its publications:
