            DAVID GORDON'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO ECONOMICS 
 
            Friday April 18, 1997 
 
            The Graduate Faculty of the New School, 
            65 Fifth Avenue, New York. 
 
The Department of Economics at the New School for Social Research 
announces that there will be a one day conference on Friday April 18, 
1997 honoring the work of David Gordon. 
 
David Gordon died in March 1996. He was a long-standing member of the 
New School Economics Department, and a progressive political 
economist of international repute. The conference is intended to honor 
his work, and will focus on themes that he investigated, particularly in 
his 
last book "Fat and Mean". 
 
Speakers at the conference will include Sam Bowles, Will Milberg, Tom 
Palley, Michael Reich, Juliet Schor, Jim Stanford, and Lance Taylor, 
amongst others. 
 
Registration for the conference is free. However, the Department asks 
that you contact them so as to be able to make provision for appropriate
