Hello,

As part of a regular reminder to participants about how to manage their
subscription to click4hp, we are reposting some of commands and "how
to's" frequently requested by participants. We suggest that you print
this message and save it for future reference. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact the co-facilitators of
click4hp - Liz Rykert <[log in to unmask]> and Alison Stirling
<[log in to unmask]>

How to Send a message to the list:

To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the
list, just send mail to [log in to unmask] This is called "sending mail
to the list", because you send mail to a single address and
LISTSERV makes copies for all the people who have subscribed.
This address <[log in to unmask]> is also called the "list address".

Sending a command to the list address meant for messages will not work.

All commands must be sent to the "LISTSERV address" which is
[log in to unmask]

How to get the list in digest format:

Click4hp is available in digest form. This means you get one message a
day with all the postings to the list instead of individual messages. If
you wish to receive the digested version of the postings, send email
to [log in to unmask] with the following message in the text of your
message: SET CLICK4HP DIGEST

How to get a list of subscribers:

Please note that it is presently possible for anybody to determine
that you are signed up to the list through the use of the "REVIEW"
command, which returns the e-mail address and name of all the
subscribers.
If you want to see the list of all the subscribers you send a command
to [log in to unmask] and leaving the subject line blank, type in the
body of the message: REVIEW CLICK4HP. About 10 minutes later or less
you should receive the file of current subscribers.
If you do not want your name to be visible, just issue a SET CLICK4HP
CONCEAL command.

How to read old archived messages:

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can get
a list of the available archive files by sending an INDEX ClICK4HP
command to [log in to unmask] This will produce a list of logs for the
list so far. You can then order these files with a GET CLICK4HP
LOGxxxx command, or using LISTSERV's database search facilities.
For example, to get the September 1996 archives of CLICK4HP you would
send a command to the list-serv with GET CLICK4HP LOG9609 [year then
month]. What you will receive is a huge text file of all of the messages
in that month.
Send an INFO DATABASE command for more information. This is an
interesting, if somewhat difficult to read, item with valuable
information on it - for example how to search for a specific topic that
may have appeared in CLICK4HP.

You can send a command to SEARCH CLICK4HP word1 <word2 <...> [so it
will Search list archives] FROM date1 TO date2
For example, if you are looking for messages on population health that
appeared during the life of CLICK4HP (which was May 1 1996) you could
send a command that said SEARCH CLICK4HP population health FROM 9605 TO
9703

More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the LISTSERV
reference card, which you can retrieve by sending an INFO REFCARD
command to [log in to unmask]

When problems or long silences occur:

You can use SET CLICK4HP NOMAIL and SET CLICK4HP MAIL, again to
[log in to unmask] when you have to be away from your account for
extended periods.

Remember that you can use REVIEW CLICK4HP to get the subscriber
list to see if you have been deleted following a long lull in CLICK4HP
postings to your mailbox. The rapid growth of use of the internet is
showing up as more delays in delivering mail through electronic
gate-ways and to keep the work load managable we will be deleting people
whose accounts reject mail for long periods of time.

LASTLY, there are accounts which send error messages even
though the mail is getting through. This has to do either with the
network at your end, or some particular gateway between here and there.
If you are receiving CLICK4HP and get a notice that one of us have
UNSUBSCRIBED you DO NOT TAKE THIS AS A SIGN THAT THE THOUGHT POLICE ARE
AT WORK. Just RESUBSCRIBE with

                 SUBSCRIBE CLICK4HP your-ordinary-name

to [log in to unmask], or send us <[log in to unmask]> or
<[log in to unmask]> email to find out what is going on.

There's also great information on being a list participant and managing
a list to be found at the following internet sites:

We hope these tips and suggestions will help all subscribers of
 CLICK4HP. Keep those messages coming!
