CSIH seeks host organizations for new "International Youth Internships
Program"
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) is developing a new
program for young Canadian professionals planning a career in health who
would be interested in gaining valuable work experience in an international
environment. The "International Health Internships Program" will target
both recent university and college graduates and students about to
graduate. CSIH will coordinate the placements with Canadian and
international partner organizations involved in health, and will contribute
a maximum of $12,000 per internship. The internships will be for a maximum
period of 12 months, and will include a six-month overseas component in
either a developing country or a country in economic transition.

CSIH invites organizations interested in participating in this new program
as host organizations to contact the Society by April 10, 1997. Host
organizations must be in a position to propose a valuable work experience
to the participant; to bear some of the costs of the internships (cash
and/or in-kind); to integrate a period of work overseas with a field office
or partner organization; to assist with the participant's pre-departure
preparation; and to support the participant's efforts to find stable
employment after the internship period.

Interested organizations should notify the Society by fax at:
(613) 230-8401, or by e-mail at: [log in to unmask]
