Greetings!

This is my first post to the list, and I was hoping that someone out
there might be able to shed some light on where I could find reviews
before 1900 of Puddn'head Wilson. I'm working on a web project for my
collegiate English course, and have only been able to find three reviews
so far to include on my page (from the Idler, the Athanaeum, and the
Critic). If anyone has a tip on where to find more, please drop me a line!
I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps critics of the 1890s simply didn't
want to review Puddn'head, a book which confronted slavery yet lacked the
coarse language which made Huck Finn worthy of controversy. Any comments?

                                Yours sincerely,

                                 Michael D. McFarland
