I've not yet been to Hawaii and only read _Roughing It_ four or
five times so my opinion may be only worth a "broke thoroughbrace,"
but Twain's excursion to that western state-to-be is no less
adventurous than other sections. Trekking across a volcano at night
and with inadequate lighting may have been the most foolhardy part of
his trip--but perhaps also one of the most rewarding; Twain had no
park rangers to say "Hey, you! Get away from there!"
