Internship Opportunities Available Around The World For Young Professionals
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several internship opportunities are still available with CSIH's
International Health Youth Internships Program. Young professionals will
benefit from significant work experience through six to twelve month
placements with various organizations in industrialized or developing
countries. The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT)
is funding placements in industrialized countries, while the Canadian
International Development Agency (CIDA) is funding placements in developing
countries and countries of Central and Eastern Europe in economic
transition. Internships are offered to young Canadians who have graduated,
or  who are about to graduate in disciplines including public health,
nursing, health administration, health economics, international health,
social sciences, and medicine. Placements include a wide range of health
issues, such as infectious diseases, HIV, and primary health care, as well
as determinants of health, such as social support networks, education and
employment.

health systems management or public health or an M.D. with a master's degree
in a field related to public health.  Experience:  At national level: Seven
years of experience in the area of health sector reform such as health care
organization and delivery, health financing and institutional development.
Experience in a position directly related to health reform would be an
asset.  At international level: Two years of participation in technical
cooperation projects and activities in areas dealing with health sector
reform, with recognized expertise at the international level.  Languages:
Very good knowledge of English and Spanish.

sciences, law or a related field with specialization in public
administration or public health.  Experience:  A combination of five years
of national and international project administration experience with
particular emphasis in the design, monitoring and evaluation of technical
cooperation programs and activities. Experience should include
responsibilities for managing the financial and administrative aspects of
project implementation processes as well as for reporting to donor agencies
of bilateral/multilateral technical cooperation, preferably in the area
of health reform.  Languages:  Very good knowledge of English and Spanish.

Proceedings From the Fourth Canadian Conference on International Health
Unavailable

The Canadian Society for International Health wishes to inform Members of
the Society and participants in the 4th Canadian Conference on International
Health, held in Ottawa/Hull from November 9 to 12, 1997, that as we did not
receive sufficient numbers of orders for the Selected Proceedings of the
Fourth Canadian Conference on International Health, those "Proceedings" will
not be published.

For individuals who sent an order with payments, cheques sent will be voided
and returned, and payment by Visa not debited.


La Societe canadienne de sante internationale regrette de devoir informer
ses membres et tous les participants de la 4e Conference canadienne sur la
sante internationale, tenue a Ottawa/Hull du 9 au 12 novembre 1997, que
n'ayant pas recu suffisamment de commandes avant la Conference pour les
"Selected Proceedings" de ladite conference, ces "Proceedings" ne seront pas
publies.

Les cheques ayant deja ete envoyes avec le bon de commande seront annules et
