I used to believe that our government would not ban books. I thought that
what censorship existed in the United States was limited to state and local
governments lossing sight of the constitution.

I was wrong. The United states post office has a history prosecuting  people
for distributing "obscene" literature that ranges from Margaret Sanger's
pamphlets regarding birth control to Eros magazine (officially because the
publisher was trying to arouse prurient interest by sending their magazine
from post offices in towns with names like "Blue Balls PA, but actually
because there were potos of a racially mixed couple -- the last was my
opinion)

The Food and Drug Administration burned the books of Dr. Reich because of
his
radical theories.

In these days of political correctness I am sure it is very possible for a
bunch of ignorant bureaucrats to ban what they do not understand.
