This is a status report of our work on IHS at the Centre for Health Promotion at University of Toronto (also
included in the OHPE bulletin)

Centre for Health Promotion, Working Group on Integrated
Delivery Systems Webpage & RFP

As of May 8, visit the new CHP Working Group on integrated
Health Systems website.

The Centre for Health Promotion, in response to interest
within Ontario's health promotion community, held an
Information Sharing Forum on Integrated Delivery Systems on
March 5, 1997. Speakers at the event included
representatives of the Health Strategies Group and the
Health Promotion Branch, OMOH, York Region District Health
Council and OPHA. Discussion followed the formal
presentations, and from this was created a list of Action
Steps. The CHP's Working Group on Integrated Delivery
Systems was created to work on these Action Steps, and began
with two main goals: to develop a IDS bibliography; and to
write a paper outlining the Role of Health Promotion Within
Integrated Health Systems. Both of these documents are found
on this website. The paper has been submitted to the OMOH,
and as a result both the Ministry and the CHP are committed
to meeting to discuss the issues outlined within. Current
members of the group are a diverse group of health promotion
professionals from such organizations as PHU's, CHC's, NGO's
as well as students and freelance consultants.

Their primary goals reached, the Working Group is now
committed to developing a popular version of the paper, and
information on this can be found in the Request for
Proposals (deadline June 5) at
http://www.utoronto.ca/chp/ihs.htm. A summary of the RFP
follows:

I Deliverable: Camera-ready copy for a popular version of
the IHS paper, and a dissemination strategy for same.

The Centre's Working Group on Integrated Health Systems has
developed a comprehensive background paper as part of its
strategy for ensuring that health promotion will be an
integral part of Integrated Health Systems (IHS) in Ontario.
This paper is approximately 82 pages in length including a
three page summary and seventeen pages of references.

The main audience for the background paper is the Ontario
Ministry of Health, particularly groups working on the
vision, health reform as well as the policy framework and
implementation plan for IHS in Ontario (subject to Cabinet
approval). A secondary audience for the paper includes
health professionals, organizations, and associations that
are developing positions on, or acting collectively to
influence the development of, IHS in Ontario.

II Deliverable: IHS Annotated Bibliography

The Centre is requesting mini-proposals from individuals
and/or groups who are interested in developing an annotated
bibliography on Integrated Health Systems. Many of the
resources for this bibliography have already been collected
by members of the Centre's Working Group. The mini-proposal
would include a workplan (that involves the Working Group as
a key resource and support) and a budget (volunteers and
contributions in kind are also welcome).

III Request: Resources/Donations in Kind

The Centre is seeking resources (funds, expertise, etc) to
support the development of the above deliverables.
