The Archives Association of Ontario (AAO) maintains active programs in a
variety of areas including institutional advisory services, outreach and
communication, standards and education, and advocacy, and administers
Canadian Council of Archives grants to Ontario archival institutions.  The
AAO has an active volunteer board of directors and has recently undertaken
a marketing and fundraising audit to develop a strategy for revenue
generation and organizational growth.

The Executive Director is a newly created full time position and would
report to the President of the Board of Directors.  Major areas of
responsibilities include the successful day to day administrative operation
of the organization; the management of long-range plans in conjunction with
the Board of Directors; the recruitment and supervision of personnel;  and
income generation through membership development, grantsmanship, and
fundraising.

This position requires the ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with the archival community, staff, the Board of
Directors, government, foundation and corporation funders, individual
donors, and the public.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with experience
in not for profit management; excellent written and oral communications
skills; experience in fundraising, membership acquisition and retention,
computers, and conference management; and have a proven a track record of
responsible fiscal management.  Experience  in membership association
management is highly desirable, as is an appreciation of archives and
historical research.  Bilingualism is an asset.  Anticipated start date
will be April 1, 1999.
