>Department: The Archives of The Law society of Upper Canada
>Reports to: Director of Libraries/Archives
>Salary: $36,850 - $45,000

>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
>Working under the supervision of the Director of Libraries/Archives,
>manage the archival collection by:
>- Maintaining and developing the archival collection according to
>professional archival standards, and in accordance with Archives
>Department policy and procedures, including:
>- Accessioning material from internal and external sources,
>including preparation of accession forms and transfer documents for
>internal request, preparation of accession forms, acknowledgement
>letters and deed of gift forms for external donations.
>- Ensuring access to material in the collection through development
>and maintenance of a finding guide system, including management of
>GENCAT database.
>- Appraising accessioned material for permanent value and
>arranging and describing records for permanent value.
>- Ensuring preservation and conservation of collection through
>physical maintenance of collection and storage area (including off-site
>storage); monitoring adherence to accepted preservation standards.
>- Developing and implementing changes to policies and procedures
>as required.
>- Ensuring timely transfer of corporate records of permanent value
>to Archives.
>- Managing special projects, including recruitment and supervision
>of contract staff and volunteer(s). Applying for grants as needed.
>- Participating in the planning and implementation of a Records
>Management Program, including advising on retention requirements,
>classification schemes, electronic records management, imaging and
>vital records. Also maintaining and developing the records management
>database.
>- Preparing monthly variance reports of Archives Department
>accounts and participating in budget planning and strategic planning for
>Archives department.
>- Promoting the Archival program and performing other duties as
>required.
>QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
>- A Master's of Archival Studies or equivalent;
>- Minimum of two years experience as an Archivist responsible for
> the management of a multi-media archival collection;
>- Experience working with Rules for Archival Description;
>- Strong customer service orientation;
>- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
>- Strong computer skills, experience with GENCAT preferred;
>- Excellent organizational skills to work with minimal supervision
> and handle a large volume of detailed work;
>- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
>- Records management experience
