Dear Professor Baetzhold,
Thank you for responding. I know that he valued your friendship. I have those two items that you so ably wrote. May I have your permission to quote from them, or are the copyrights held by the publications? It is early in my attempt to gather all his writing, and I am just starting to inquire about copyright from the various publishers. Thank you for your good wishes.
Regards,

Dear M. Uetz,\
Two items regarding John Tuckey that I hope may be of value are
1. The note on John's death that I wrote for the Mark Twain Circular, Vol. 1, no. 11, November 1987\,
and 2. My introduction to Quarry Farm Papers No. 2, 1990 JohnTuckey's last presentation "Mark Twain: The Youth Who Lived on in the Sage."
Good Luck on your project,
HGB

Subject: request for information on John S. Tuckey
Greetings, all--
I see by the brochure for the 2009 Conference in Elmira that another Tuckey award will be given, so I thought I would query the members here to see if any had memories of or anecdotes about John that they would be willing to share. I am working on a collection of his writing, including putting back into print his Mark Twain and Little Satan. I knew him as a graduate student, mentor, and member of his English department. I would appreciate hearing from those of you who knew him as well. Respond on or off-lline, as you deem appropriate.
Regards,
Sandra Littleton Uetz
