Hi Joe, I'm not sure the context of you question, but if any of this is
useful, I'm grateful.  there's a nice chapter in Jackson Lears's No Place
of Grace on Medieval mentality that is good; also there's a chapter on
commerce by Gregg Camfield in the Historical Guide to MT.  If you are
looking for Twain texts, I like some of the imperialism stuff:  Person
Sitting in Darkness or U. S. of Lyncherdom; or even My First Lie, or corm
Pone Opinions, all in Tom Quirk's Penguin collection.  -hb
