Greetings fellow members!

Attached please find a virus-free letter submitted on behalf of the AAO dealing with provisions pertaining to archives and records in Bill 111, the Municipal Act.  Full text of the Bill can be viewed on-line at www.ontla.on.ca.  Initial feedback indicates that the issue of standards is a non-starter throughout the Bill, much to our disappointment.  Our other requests will receive due consideration.  We are especially encouraged that the necessity of passing a records retention by-law will be re-instated.  I am hopeful that many of the issues we have raised in this letter will also receive further consideration on the floor of the Legislature.  

I will be updating MAIG members on other matters shortly.  The executive will be working on formal literature about the group in the coming weeks.  We are also in the process of compiling a directory which will serve a number of purposes.  In the interim, I suggest that all members read the next edition of Off the Record as it contains an overview of our recent activities.  We would love to see more members representing more regions of the province become involved in the group!  Let me know of your interest.  Regards,
