The Board of the Canadian Council of Archives has prepared a response to the
Library and Archives of Canada's Evaluation of the Grants and Contributions
Program. This response is now available on the CCA website at:

The Evaluation and its concluding report and appendices were undertaken by
the Library and Archives Canada (LAC) in response to the government-wide
review of grants and contribution authorities, the renewal of which must
take place before March 31, 2005 in accordance with the Treasury Board of
Canada's Policy on Transfer Payments.
This Evaluation was made available to the public on May 27, 2004, through
the LAC website: (http://www.collectionscanada.ca/04/041903_e.html).
The CCA is publicly responding to this evaluation of its Grants and
Contributions program, in order to further discussion, co-operation and
understanding between and among the Canadian archival community, the LAC,
the federal government and the Canadian public.
The renewal of the federal government funding to the archival community is a
watershed for the Canadian archival system. The CCA urges members of the
archival community to respond to these documents and engage in the
discussion of the issues surrounding the renewal process, which will be
concentrated over the next five months. The CCA will continue to
communicate with the national archival community throughout this process, to
convey information regarding the format which this process will take, to
identify opportunities for advocacy, and to solicit feedback from all
concerned. We encourage members of the community to contact us with any
ideas or questions you may have, and to relay to the CCA possible contacts
or venues to raise archival awareness in the effort to renew and strengthen
granting authority.

Information Network (CAIN) will be available shortly.

Le Comité de direction du Conseil canadien des archives a préparé une
réponse au rapport de l'Évaluation du Programme de subventions et de
contributions. Cette réponse est maintenant disponible sur le site du CCA à

Bibliothèque et Archives Canada (BAC) a procédé à cette évaluation dans le
cadre de l'examen général, pour l'ensemble du gouvernement, des pouvoirs en
matière de subventions et de contributions, dont le renouvellement doit
avoir lieu avant le 31 mars 2005, conformément à la politique des paiements
de transfert du Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor.
Le rapport de l'Évaluation a été diffusé le 27 mai 2004 sur le site web de

Le CCA réagit publiquement à cette évaluation de son programme de
subventions et de contributions dans le but de favoriser la discussion, la
coopération et la compréhension entre la communauté archivistique
canadienne, BAC, le gouvernement fédéral et le public canadien.
Le renouvellement du financement que le Gouvernement fédéral accorde à la
communauté archivistique est un point décisif pour le système archivistique
canadien. Le CCA encourage les membres de la communauté archivistique à
réagir à ces documents et à s'impliquer dans la discussion concernant les
questions qui entourent le processus de renouvellement qui prendra place
principalement durant les cinq prochains mois. Le CCA va continuer à
communiquer avec la communauté archivistique canadienne durant la période du
processus de renouvellement, à transmettre les informations concernant le
format que prendra le processus, à identifier des occasions pour promouvoir
le processus, et à solliciter des commentaires de tous les partis
concernés. Nous encourageons les membres de la communauté archivistique à
nous contacter avec toutes idées et questions que vous pourriez avoir. Nous
vous encourageons aussi à transmettre au CCA les noms de personnes contactes
ou des événements que nous pourrions utiliser pour promouvoir nos efforts
pour le renouvellement de l'entente de financement.
La réaction du CCA face à l'Évaluation du Réseau canadien d'information
archivistique (RCIA) effectuée par BAC sera disponible bientôt.
