Your skills are needed by the dynamic team at the Archives of Ontario to
help the Conservation Unit implement its new Preservation Strategy.  You
will: undertake conservation treatments on a variety of archival materials;
undertake condition assessments of the collection; document conditions
before and after treatment; monitor storage conditions on and off site;
prepare materials for exhibit; assist in disaster contingency planning and
recovery; assist in basic preservation training and foster a preservation
culture throughout the institution.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Knowledge of basic conservation and archival practices;
basic understanding of preservation management; knowledge of chemical and
physical properties of archival materials and historical fabrication;
knowledge of basic photographic techniques to effectively record the
condition of archival materials before and after conservation treatment;
knowledge of WHMIS; ability to use  technical equipment, such as a humidity
chamber, encapsulator, hygrothermagraph, PH meter etc; experience in
preservation/conservation training; experience in the operation of personal
computers and associated software/databases in the conservation laboratory;
good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; knowledge of the
Professional Code of Ethics as set by the Canadian Association for
Conservation of Cultural Property.
