Act. Glen Bloom, a partner with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, is one of
Canada’s leading authorities on intellectual property law and
technology, and a founder of Canadian Internet Registration Authority
(CIRA).


 Digital licensing Workshop – Tips, Hints and Know-How

 A must for anyone using or licensing digital materials. You’ll learn
about the
 uses of works through digital licensing agreements, sublicenses and
secondary rights, moral rights, compensation, who owns what, revocation
of rights, credits, warranties, indemnities and more. Lesley Ellen
Harris is a Canadian copyright and new media lawyer, consultant, and
author, based in WashingtonDC.


 Identifiers - what are they and where are they going?

 A panel of experts discusses the development, progress and future
direction of digital identifiers, from metatagging to indexing: DOI, ™,
CanCore, Scorm, IEEE, , ISTC, ISAN, ISBN, and others.  Norman Paskin is
founder of the International DOI Foundation, and developed the DOI as a
standardized identifier. Brian Green is Manager of Book Industry
Communication, the UK e-commerce standards body. Jane Thacker is an
Information Standards Specialist for Library and Archives Canada. Dr.
Norm Friesen works in information management at the University of
Alberta and Athabasca University, and is Director of the CanCore
Initiative.

discuss the digital landscape, its impact on creators of trade and
educational books and other works, and how to negotiate contracts that
identify, ensure and protect rights. Helen Heller is one of Canada’s
