Job announcement:  Communications Officer, Canada Program, CPAR
                    .8 to 1 fte
CPAR is a non-profit, non-sectarian, charitable organization dedicated
to assisting vulnerable,
low income people in the Third World, particularly in Africa, in their
efforts to achieve good
health and sustainable development.  CPAR is seeking a Communications
Officer to help educate
and engage CPAR's Canadian constituency  in International Development,
environment and health
issues, as well as in the support of CPAR's work.  These activities
involve a range of face-to-face,
electronic and mass media approaches.

The officer is to
1)  Plan and implement a media strategy;
2)  Update Website and ensure that it includes CPAR-produced articles,
graphics, etc.
3)  Coordinate/implement a Voice for Africa website
3)  Oversee and produce key public/organizational documents,
3)  Assist in organizing, implementing  and publicizing speaker's tour
4)  Assist in communications strategies, annual plans, and reports.
5)  Link with CPAR's fundraising/marketing functions
6)  Liaise with the public, chapter members and volunteers, and staff

Qualifications:
          -A university or college graduate with a strong communications
component
     (communications, computer programming/website development,
journalism, education,
     artistic/graphic design, international development, public health,
environment, community
     development, etc.) or a combined education and work equivalent
experience
           -Experience with print and electronic media and the internet,
as well as media relations
          -Knowledge of international development issues
          -Experience in proposal development and report writing
          -Demonstrated effective creativity
          -Excellent oral, computer, written and interpersonal
communications skills

                                   Remuneration:  Entry level salary
