[Forwarded on behalf of Robert Leonard. -- RBE]

Dear colleagues,

Albert Jolink has suggested that I may have something to offer concerning
the recent query on one John Williams. If I recall correctly, however,
the original query referred to a Williams who, amongst other things, had
studied at Harvard. The John Williams on whom I have done some work -
mathematical statistician with the Applied Mathematics Panel during WWII
and then head of mathematical research at the RAND Corporation from its
inception till the early 1960's - was trained at Arizona and then
Princeton. It is unlikely that this is the person referred to on this
list. Should I be mistaken, however, I would be happy to provide further
information.

        Sincerely,
                  Robert Leonard
