According to Edward G. Bourne, "Alexander Hamilton and Adam Smith," 
_Quarterly Journal of Economics_ 8 (April 1894), 328-44, Hamilton made 
extensive use of Smith's _Wealth of Nations_ in writing his own _Report 
on Manufactures_, even though he strongly disagreed with Smith about 
appropriate trade policy.
