The ARCHEION workshop is designed to ...
- familiarize archivists with ARCHEION
- give archivists information they need to submit descriptions to ARCHEION
- assist archivists in knowing what the responsibilities of the
participating institutions are with regards to ARCHEION
- give some basic information about Encoded Archival Description (EAD)
within the context of ARCHEION
- provide some instructions on arrangement issues that may arise during
participation in ARCHEION
- raise archivist's comfort level with RAD's use at the fonds level
- provide guidance on acceptable descriptive practices in ARCHEION
- provide some information on authority control and the creation of
headings using RAD Part II
Not covered in the workshop ...
- Detailed knowledge of EAD or SGML
- Technical issues related to conversion of existing descriptions
- Using RAD for multilevel description
- Appraisal
- Conservation or preservation
