Dear Ryan:
Here is a submission that can go in the Chapter News section of Off the
Record.

The Northwestern Ontario Archivists' Association had a very successful
meeting at the Thunder Bay Museum which co-sponsored the
event. The guest speaker was Dr. Ernst Zimmermann of Lakehead University
who discussed his fascinating research into the history of the Prisoner of
War Camp at Red Rock, Ontario, during the Second World War. He is among the
first historians to study the camps using German archival sources which
apparently contain abundant information about the POWs and their lives in
Canada. One of the most stunning facts to emerge from his research was that
the camps also held a fair number of Jewish prisoners, people deemed a risk
to national security by British authorities, which made the situation within
the camps quite volatile. This is the first lecture given to the
archivists' group that has made the CBC Radio national news.
