The International Society for New Institutional Economics (ISNIE) will hold
its inaugural conference September 19-21, 1997, at Washington University in
St. Louis. The theme of the conference is THE PRESENT STATE AND FUTURE OF
THE NEW INSTITUTIONAL ECONOMICS.

Ronald Coase, the first president of the Society, will preside over the
conference. Other presenters include a long list of leading scholars in
various fields, including Robert Bates, Lee Benham, Harold Demsetz, Antony
Dnes, Thrinn Eggertsson, Jean Ensminger, Paul Joskow, Gary Libecap, Scott
Masten, Claude Menard, Gary Miller, Vistor Nee, Doulgass North, John Nye,
Mancur Olson, Rudolf Richter, Itai Sened, Pablo Spiller, Oliver Williamson,
Barry Weingast, and many others.

All individuals interested in New Institutional Economics are invited to
attend the conference. More information about the conference and the ISNIE
(including membership information) can be found at the Society's web page,
the NIE Network, at http://sykuta.business.pitt.edu/nie/

We hope you will take a few minutes to learn more about this new society
and perhaps attend the conference this fall.
