Position title: Archivist

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Archives, the Archivist will:
·     Conduct research and respond to reference requests from within the
company, including providing support to our Corporate Secretary's office
and Legal Departments
·     Process, arrange and describe the archives holdings in all media and
formats using RAD and InMagic DBTextworks
·     Ensure preventative conservation measures and make recommendations
for professional conservation treatments
·     Appraise records and co-ordinate their transfer to the Archives
·     Maintain a variety of archival databases
·     Conduct outreach activities to internal and limited external
audiences
·     Assist in all other aspects of the Archives operations

Qualifications

Essential
·     Ability to exercise discretion and tact in handling sensitive
confidential information and documentation.
·     The preferred candidate will be able to work well within a corporate
setting at all levels.
·     Strong customer service orientation,
·     Sound judgement in assessing information to meet requests
·     Above average written and verbal communication and interpersonal
skills
·     Proven self starter who takes initiative and thrives in a continually
changing environment
·     Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
·     Innovative problem solving skills
·     Quick learner


Education /Experience
Essential
·     A university graduate degree in archival studies (MAS), or graduate
library science/information studies degree with archival concentration (MLS
or MLIS) or a combination of equivalent education and experience
·     Two to three years progressive experience in an archival setting
·     Working knowledge of RAD (Rules for Archival Description) and current
trends in archival and records management theory and practise
·     Competence with InMagic DBTextworks, Microsoft Office suite, and
Lotus Notes

Helpful
·     Degree in Canadian history would be an asset
·     Experience/familiarity with Adobe, Photoshop
·     Familiarity with html / java coding and web design
·     Ability to read and write another language is an asset
·     Previous supervisory experience
