Please, do not send attachments to list-servs! It is a very problematic
issue for subscribers, readers and for list-owners.
.
International subscribers, outside of North America have often sent notices
(or have their messages bounced back to the list-owners), that they are
unable to receive or to read, or to download long messages with attachments,
and that these messages are very expensive when paying by the minute for
downloading email. As well, subscribers have been annoyed at having to
download a long message that contained the body of the attached message in
the email, plus an unreadable MIME version of the attachment.

Many attachments can potentially carry viruses (especially Word), and for
safety purposes, especially with a new and servious virus floating around,
many people delete email messages with attachments, without reading them.
As well, the majority of subscribers do not have the most updated version or
the same application to read documents.

Be considerate, keep your messages short and avoid using attachments.

If you are going to post a notice of a job or a report to a list, please
indicate how interested people can get additional information.

And to readers who are interested in getting more information on a report,
carticle or job posting - please contact the individual directly - do NOT
use the Reply function of your email, as it will send your message back to
the entire list. Copy the email address that appears in the From line (it
will appear to be directly from the individual, but is actually routed
through the CLICK4HP listserver) into a new email message, and it should go
directly to the person you want, without being copied to more than 670
subscribers around the world.

sincerely,

Alison Stirling, co-facilitator CLICK4HP
