Irving Fisher taught a course on "The Mathematical Theory of Prices" at
Yale
in the early 1890s, based on his thesis, "Mathematical Investigations in
the
Theory of Value and Prices" (accepted as a Yale Ph.D. dissertation 1891,
published in _Transactions of the Connecticut Academy_ 1892). Fisher was in
the Department of Mathematics (as instructor 1891-93, assistant professor
1893-95) before transferring to the Department of Political Economy.
