Program in Early American Economy and Society   
1999 Prizes   
 
The Program in Early American Economy and Society of the Library  
Company of Philadelphia is pleased to announce two awards to  
recognize the best book and journal article published in 1999 relating to  
an aspect of early American economic history, broadly defined, up to  
about 1850.  The awards committee welcomes submissions in such  
fields as the history of finance, business, commerce, agriculture,  
manufacturing, technology, and economic policy-making.  The author  
of the winning book will receive a cash award of $2,500 and will  
present his or her work during an awards ceremony.  The author of the  
winning article will receive $1,000.  Nominations for the award should  
be made by someone other than the author;  complete entries consist of  
three copies of the work and a nominating letter explaining the work's  
importance to the field of early American economic history.   
 
SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS MARCH 15, 2000.  Please send
