Dear Ms Suzanne Dubeau,

I am concerned that it was my message yesterday that prompted this
reminder and I am sorry about the confusion. I should have made it clear
that the training video is not for sale. It is offered free to the
archives community.

The videos contain examples of what several archivists have done. The
first video generates discussion about putting archives online for the
world to see. It demonstrates techniques for making archives metadata
available to Google and other search engines while still being dynamic
so that new material is online the moment it is approved.

The second video provides techniques to organize metadata and content so
that it will survive for decades and is not locked into the
"flavour-of-the-month" technology. It illustrates the importance of
controlled terminology and names authorities that can establish
relationships for past centuries. The illustrations used are those of
archivists using Eloquent Archives software, but the concepts are
general.

I got a favourable response from other listservs where I offered the
free videos, but I apologize if I offended any one by posting it on this
one. Please contact me at the address below, or if you wish to check out
the video first, it can be found in the Eloquent Archives section of our
website.

Sincerely,
Merv Richter

Subject: AAOLIST is not set up for solicitation purposes

Dear AAOLIST Subscribers,

I would like to remind all AAOLIST subscribers that the AAOLIST
listserve was established for the purposes of discussion among
archivists of archival issues and to provide peer assistance. It was
not created for solicitation as we have seen recently.

I respectfully ask all subscribers to keep these parameters in mind
before posting.

Thank you all for your assistance with this. If you wish to advertise a
product, please pay for much-appreciated advertising in archival
newsletters.
