The City of Toronto Archives announces the possible availability of a twelve-week position for an individual seeking challenging work in the field of information management. This position is contingent upon the approval of funding through "Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions," an employment program sponsored by the Department of Canadian Heritage.
Working under the supervision of an Archivist, the successful candidate will be responsible for editing and verifying fonds-level descriptions (including some authority work) that have been converted into the Archives' upgraded on-line database.
Employment Dates: June 21, 2004 to September 8, 2004
Location: 255 Spadina Road, Toronto. The location is accessible by public transit.
Qualifications: Successful completion of an undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline, formal training in archival theory and practices, good working knowledge of Rules for Archival Description and an ability to work independently.
Salary:
$17.39 per hour
Selection process: There will be an interview for this position.
In keeping with the guidelines under the Young Canada Works program, applicants must be:
between the ages of 16 and 30;
college/university students; graduates may apply, but priority is given to students returning to school
