Position Title/Classification: Archives Operations Assistant (Library
Assistant IV)

Department: Western Archives (Archives and Research Collections Centre)

Salary Range Minimum: $32,301/yr (35 hrs/wk)

Type of Appointment: Continuing

Position Summary:
The Archives and Research Collections Centre provides storage and
retrieval services for low
and medium use library material, semi-active university records, and
archival and special
research collections. As the successful candidate you will be the team
leader responsible for
facilitating the work of the ARCC Operations Team that is responsible
for receiving, processing
and shelving all items transferred to the ARCC and the Research
Depository Library. You will
be the primary person responsible for facilitating the retrieval,
delivery and reshelving of all
requested items and you will be responsible for the day-to-day
completion of work as well as
performing inventory control functions.

Qualifications:
An undergraduate degree in a related discipline and two to three years
of related experience are
required. Proven understanding of library, archives and records
management principles,
procedures and terminology is an asset. Strong interpersonal,
communication, public service
and leadership skills are required, as is the ability to work
independently and as part of a team.
The incumbent is expected to operate a modified fork lift and must be
comfortable working at
heights of 25-30 feet. The incumbent must be physically capable of
lifting, reaching and
bending when handling items weighing up to 50 pounds. A valid Ontario
driver’s license is
required, as are basic computer skills. Weekend shift work is a
component of this position.
