In addition to the recent JHET article cited by Ross Emmett, you might  
want to look at the wry chapter on Keynes in John Maloney's _The  
Professionalization of Economics_ (New Brunswick, 1991).  Keynes's  
meticulous diaries in the Cambridge University Library (Add. MS 7827- 
67) have been a great source for Marshall scholars.
