Windsor Public Library
ARCHIVES PROCESSING ASSISTANT
* Summer Student Temporary, 30 hours/week for a period of 8 weeks
(Summer Career Placement)
Position:
Reports to the Archivist, Windsor's Community Archives
* Appraise, arrange, describe and process approximately 8 metres of textual records of the M. Bowlby Collection;
* Research the M. Bowlby family;
* Create a finding aid to the Collection.
Qualifications:
* Enrolled in archival courses from a university or college archival program;
* Registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year, and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
* Experienced in arranging and describing records required;
* Strong oral and written skills in English required;
* Familiarity with rules for archival description an asset;
* Familiarity with Word and InMagic computer programs an asset;
* Neatness and strong organizational skills required;
* Precision and accuracy essential;
* Ability to work in a team environment is essential;
* Willingness to ask questions and seek advice when confronted with problems;
* Ability to lift 40lb. boxes;
* Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusively);
* Canadian citizens, permanent residents or persons on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Hourly wage rate: $10.00
