The following is posted on behalf of the Elgin County Archives, a new program set to open during the fall of 2002. The Archives is located in St. Thomas in Southwestern Ontario, a twenty minute drive south of London along the shore of Lake Erie:

ARCHIVIST ASSISTANT (NEW)
FULL TIME
The County of Elgin has an exciting position in the newly developed Archives program. Under the general supervision of the County Archivist, the successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks relating to the operation of the County Archives and the corporate records management program.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have completed post-secondary education in archival studies or records and information management or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of archival principles and practice along with excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. Familiarity with database management systems (particularly MS Access and Inmagic DB TextWorks) and digitization/website development are definite assets.
