Public Health Week is around the corner (April 3-8).  Here are a few Web
resources from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion to
assist in your planning.

*HEALTHY PEOPLE

Healthy People is the prevention agenda for the Nation and is updated every
ten years.  It identifies the most significant preventable threats to health
and focuses public and private sector efforts to address them.  Healthy
People is based on the best scientific knowledge and is used for
decisionmaking and for action.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

healthfinder(r) is a free gateway to reliable consumer health and human
services information developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services. healthfinder(r) can lead you to selected online publications,
clearinghouses, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as
well as the government agencies and not-for profit organizations that
produce reliable information for the public.

*THE VIRTUAL OFFICE OF THE SURGEON GENERAL
http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/
The site is the virtual office of the Surgeon General, dedicated to
protecting and improving American health. The Surgeon General personally
guides visitors through a kids' page and other sections.

*NATIONAL HEALTH INFORMATION CENTER (NHIC)

NHIC is a health information referral service that links consumers and
health professionals to more than 1200 federal and diverse health
organizations in the United States, including those with toll free numbers.
