[McNamara's book has already been mentioned, but here is a bit more, and a

Peter McNamara recently published a book for North Illinois University 
Press on the political economy of Smith and Hamilton.  Hamilton comes 
out the better in the comparison, not surprising given that Peter is a 
political scientist!
