Positively my last post on this subject, but who is your source on  
Hermann rather than Rau?  Streissler cites Rau three times (p.51, fn 74;  
p.56, p.57).  He writes "Cournot had presented the first demand curve  
in the history of economics in 1838; Rau's was the second, only three  
years later." [pp. 56-57, the Caldwell edited volume cited several times  
earlier.]
