SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

                           SCOTIABANK GROUP ARCHIVES:
                              ARCHIVES TECHNICIAN

The  Scotiabank  Group  Archives  is  an  information  centre  maintained by the
Scotiabank  Group  to  protect, preserve & facilitate the use of permanent-value
records  in  all  media.  Exercising  initiative  and judgement in responding to
frequent unusual situations that arise in a research facility the candidate must
be  a  team  player  with  excellent  oral and written communication skills. The
candidate  must  have  knowledge  of  basic conservation techniques and archival
procedures.  The  candidate  must  be computer literate and possess full working
knowledge  of  DB/TextWorks  software.  Excellent  database  editing  skills are
essential.  The  candidate  must  be  able  to function independently, pay close
attention  to  detail,  and  have  the  ability  to  maintain  effective working
relationships with Bank officers, and colleagues.

This  12  week  contract  will  start  on May 29th. Under the supervision of the
Associate  Archivist  the  Archives  Technician  will  work  on the checking and
bringing  up  to date  of a historical interest rates database. This database is
used  for  litigation  support  and  therefore  100%  accuracy  is essential. In
addition  the  Archives  Technician  will  input data into various databases and
perform  several  entry level functions designed to enhance the operation of the
department,  provide  the  employee with an interesting range of experience, and
produce easily measurable output.

Candidates  with experience in working in an archival repository, post secondary
courses in Archival Science/ techniques, post secondary courses in 19th and 20th
century Canadian history are preferred.

Salary Range: $22,700 - $27,350 - $31,450 depending on qualifications.
