CONTRACT PARTICULARS:  
      Fee-for service contract at $22.60 per hour
      Initially for 15 weeks, 21¾ hours per week 

CONTRACT ACTIVITIES:
Normal range of activities for the lone professional archivist responsible for a small, theme archives, including but not limited to:
     -  Maintaining & developing the archival holdings according to Canadian professional standards incl. RAD, and in accord with the archives' own policy and procedures;
     -   Accessioning material from internal & external sources;
     -  Ensuring access to the holdings through development and maintenance of inventory and finding aid tools, using ELOQUENT HERITAGE software;
     -  Overseeing the usual small-archives and theme archives public service functions, including retrievals, supervision of the on-site reading room, responding to researchers' enquiries, etc.
  -  Appraising potential accessions/accruals and accessioned material for permanent value;
     -  Undertaking physical conservation measures and monitoring adherence to accepted preservation standards.

CONTRACT DURATION:  Initially, from Dec. 14/98 to March 26/99.
